Welcome to week 6,
The College 5 a side league broke new records yesterday with 10 teams in participation. There is now a waiting list emerging to be a part of this extravaganza. All teams were suited and booted and ready to kick some 5 a side booty.
We have new league leaders this week with Chiswick winning both their games in double trouble. The college press seems to think that Chiswick definitely have what it takes to be crowned champions as they brushed past NeverLusen and EFC with some ease. NeverLusen as a result of their loss drop to 2nd while EFC are sitting in mid table mediocrity. New team All stars impressed the scouts last week with a thrilling victory however this week it was a very up and down performance, with their keeper missing they definitely suffered as Smokey FC recorded an upset to move up to 4th and get involved in the championship chase. All stars did recover defeating the BBC. For All stars they are still in contention as they sit in 3rd with a game in hand.
How it went down
EFC started the stronger against Chiswick with Tashan pulling off some great tackles and Yan also impressing with skill. Jeff opened the scoring as Chiswick went down. EFC have a habit of throwing away their advantages and a bit of trickery from Vee was too much for the EFC defence as he levelled with Ibby and David pulling Chiswick ahead. Jeff “the terminator” Gyansah then took matters into his own hands pulling it back to 3-2, David then scored again for Chiswick to take it to 4-2 but unbelievably Jeff hit twice to get the game back to 4-4 with 15 minutes left on the clock. EFC couldn’t fight back as David, Mardy and Fahad all combined to humiliate EFC in the final 10 minutes. In the end it was comfortable for Chiswick as EFC seemed to give up. Chiswick 9-5 EFC.
Chiswick then went on to play the current league leaders NeverLusen whoever won this would go top. Simple. Once again Chiswick started worse off with Husan “the entertainer” in unbelievable form. Getting the opener his goal was cancelled out thanks to the skill of Siam who levelled with David taking them into the lead. Husan then levelled for NeverLusen and then brought them 3-2 ahead as this game went back and forth. For NeverLusen some disgraceful defending almost as bad as Manchester City were yesterday cost them the game. Nobody was picking up men as David and V weed all over them. NeverLusen did have Iyad score (yes im just as shocked as you) but it wasn’t enough they tried to stage a late comeback but it wasn’t meant to be. Chiswick 8-6 NeverLusen.
The All stars seemed under strength this week as they just didn’t get their 1-2 step together and were absolutely trumped by Smokey FC. Sam for Smokey got a hat trick in the opening 10 minutes with Jazz also scoring an absolute belter (he did try about 10 times before he scored though. The All stars pulled it back from 5-0 to 5-3 with Elias, Sam and Michael all scoring. Jazz then hit another 6-3 and then all stars tried to pull off mission impossible where Michael and Ahmed pulled it back to 6-5. Unbelievably they then hit the post and didn’t get the equaliser, over at the other end Arya finished them off in the final moments to finish a tense game 7-5 to Smokey FC.
The All stars faced their 2nd game against The BBC and once again went down thanks to Ahsan, this time however All stars were more than up to it with Sam Cole scoring twice to bring them ahead. The All stars then threw away their lead with Ahsan scoring again in the opening part of the 2nd half. Fortunately for the all stars they didn’t let their minds slip as they dominated the rest of the game. Michael got a little bit crazy and scored 5 with Elias and Ahmed netting. For BBC Mounir and Baker were on point, but the BBC finished off empty handed. All stars 10-5 BBC.
