The league will last 12 weeks out of which you will play 11 games, 10 league and 1 cup. If you are confused as to which league you are in just look at the subject header in the email you were sent.
Please note. You have not been divided based on your ability; the leagues have been carefully constructed based on time preferences. So you must be thinking well how can we tell who is the best?
The playfiveaside.com cup
This season will see the first ever playfiveaside.com cup contested. In 1 of the opening 12 weeks your team will play a team from the other BBC division (premiership vs. Championship). For the winning teams there will be a live cup draw made on week 12 made on your computer screens. (More on this later).
THIS IS TOTALLY FREE OF CHARGE and will follow the same 40 minute format. Most cup games are on a Wednesday. Cup games are highlighted in yellow in the respective spreadsheets.
Key Rules
1) No pass backs. If I am the goal keeper and I pass to John Terry. JT cannot pass straight back to me, he has to make one pass to Wayne Bridge (hahahaha) and then back to me. Passbacks will simply see possession swap back to the other keep. If it is done persistently a free kick will be awarded
2) Slide tackling is not allowed
3) Play to the whistle do not swear at the ref. Serious fouls or verbal/physical abuse will result in the player being sin binned or sent off.
4) When you score a goal please go and tell your name to the ref.
5) Goalie can only roll out along the ground or pass out along the ground.
6) Overhead height is allowed
7) Subs are roll on roll off. Play will not stop.
New Rule
1) Each team will be given the option to play 6 a side before kick off. Both teams must agree to this otherwise it will just be the usual 5 a side.
Forfeits and punctuality
As you can see from the fixture list, there is very little wriggle room to replay games; if you cannot make a game I ask that you give me as much notice as possible so I can arrange for another encounter. Similarly if you are running late you will always be provided with the number of the referee of your encounter, please send them a txt. As you will appreciate both myself and the refs will probably be in games from 6pm, txt is the best way. Be respectful of the other teams naturally your punctuality affects their game time.
Game day
The spreadsheet will always tell you what pitch you are on, when you arrive at the stadium and if you are confused what pitch is where, please refer to the whiteboard or just ask the referee.
Fixtures and results
Fixtures for the upcoming week are always sent out on Tuesday morning. Results along with a full match day report will be in your email inboxes by Friday 12pm.
All thats left to say if that this is the peoples league and we now pass the 6 month mark of this spectacle that has graced the stadium. I am always reachable via phone or email so if you have any comments or feedback get in touch. I will also be there on your game days watching how the drama unfolds.
