Week 2 saw new outfit The Misfits take on juggernauts AC Stratospherico. In manager Ivano Baldacionni’s absence AC looked to record the first points of their season.
In the unforgiving cold conditions AC appeared the more fluid of the sides and appeared to stand up to their more physical opponents with courage and valour.
Ex semi pro, Debutant Mathias Petersen replacing the departed Lars Behrman appeared to be very much at home in his new team driving forward from midfield to feed his team mates following a nervy and shaky start. The German was clearly determined to ease the pain of his departed fellow countryman from his team
With the pain of the departed German quickly diminishing the new German begun o grow in stature and his team begun to gain further ground over their opponents who struggled to sustain a rhythm.
The Misfits who stood as strong and seemingly as technical as their father team Sporting Pfc struggled to push the ball out of midfield against the wind and it was indeed AC who took the lead. Star man Jonny Sage collected the ball wide right courtesy of a deliciously placed ball by January transfer recruit Kana Gupta and hit a marvellously hit shot from a low percentage angle low into the corner.
The ball struck low, passed the keeper en route to hitting the post before going in to give AC the lead and the only goal of the game. The AC managers playing role as well as managerial is surely to be further questioned in light of the win in his absence.
The Italian’s response awaits….
MOTM Jonny - Although not quite as influential as usual remained quietly effective and scored a stunning winner.
