Aston premiership week 5

Welcome to week 5,

PfannKuchen showed this week that what they did to Bulgaria last season was no fluke as they defeated the title favourites United by a 1 goal. Kuchen and Bulgaria are now both on 9 points and joined by the Upside Down Chickens who overcame the Fairies in a high temperature encounter. These 3 teams all now look to chase Va Va Voom whose life at the top of the table couldn’t be made simpler after London Town forfeited their game. They are 6 points clear but have played a game extra and next week is perhaps their most crucial encounter as they take on Bulgaria United. At the bottom of the table ironic applause was heard as Jackson 5 finally got off the mark. Seemed like they returned to their old ways as they contested a thrilling game against Random Rovers who still remain rooted to the bottom.

The match reports.

The Jackson 5 and Rovers started off at very fast pace as both teams seemed to forget about their pacemakers. A goal could have come from anywhere but the Jackson 5 got the breakthrough with John Bulmer. In a yoyo encounter Jazz then got the equalizer for Rovers as they now began to press. Seems like defending was a thing of the past in this game as Jackson 5 didn’t have to wait long before they restored their advantage through Jay. Jackson 5 only had Frank at the back and he couldn’t control Jason who was in exceptional form with bursts of pace and sensational skill as he grabbed the equalizer. Jason’s one man mission unraveled as John got his 2nd of the evening to take it to 3-2 at the break. The 2nd half was more about the Jackson 5 who had started to pass and move the ball better than an Arsenal starting lineup. Jay got himself a quick double which gave Jackson 5 a  5-2 lead and although the Rovers had large chunks of possession the curling shots of Jason were saved by Mickey as he kept the Jackson 5 in the lead. Jason fired late on but by this time the Jackson 5 were packing their bags with the 3 points. Jackson 5 5-3 Rovers.

One of the most heated rivalries across all 4 divisions renewed as Kuchen and United went head to head with the title dangling in the distance. It was a tight contest, but to be honest the first half score line was too flattering as Bulgaria United had the chances but just didn’t finish them. Dom continued his fantastic form to break the deadlock with the rock solid Donglay doubling the Kuchen advantage. Bulgaria attacked but their long range efforts were not troubling the keeper as they selected power instead of accuracy. Rafa found a way back as Bulgaria sensed the opportunity to level. The game continued to be heated with a lot of fouls being called as both teams seemed to lack composure. With 1 goal in it it was too close to call, but then 2 goals from Koldo had the crowd in disbelief as the score on the titantron read Kuchen 4-1 Bulgaria. The 2nd half Bulgaria were the more dominant but it was Donglay who played a crucial role at the back constantly intercepting and breaking up tackles, however at times he was left alone  and unsurprisingly the magician Andrey got 2 bringing it back to 4-3 . Almost immediately after the Andrey double Dom made it more comfortable for Kuchen netting to make it 5-3. Kuchen stuck men/women behind the ball and this was a clever strategy as they defended their lead. Rafa was able to score late on but there was no equalizer for Bulgaria as the game finished Kuchen 5-4 Bulgaria

2 different styles met in our closing encounter as the skilful Chickens met the pass and move Fairies. Fairies had the much better first half and in honesty could have been 3 goals up in 10 minutes as their men were just not being picked up. Sam was able to stride forward supporting the fairies front pair. Adam hit first before Abdul equalized for the chickens. Adam then continued his rampage as he restored the fairy lead before the break. In the second half the chickens came out to play with Abdul firing in a hat-trick to make it 4-2 as the fairies didn’t look too pleased. Abdul and the fairies keeper then had a little spat which was calmly resolved but obviously its 5 a side football, just stay out of the D and we will all get on fine. Despite a late goal from Sam, there was no comeback on the cards as Owali put the game beyond doubt. Chickens 5-3 Fairies

Game of the week. Kuchen vs. Bulgaria United

Goal of the day. Abdul Said (Chickens) vs. Adam (Fairies).  Abdul somehow managed to flick the ball up before sending the ball crashing home into the bottom left on the turn. Adam just carried on his usual smash and grab attitude with a belter from just inside the half way line. Jason (Rovers) also finished neatly after tricking the keeper.

Skill of the day. Andrey (Bulgaria) vs. Dom (Kuchen). Both were a delight this week with Dom getting the better. Andrey’s skill was as usual top draw but United seemed to lose the ball too easily. Dom matched his skill with strength as he held up the ball cleverly and did a few little tricks to confuse Bulgaria. Great battle of skill from the two.

Tackles. Donglay Zhan (Kuchen). A man of the match performance for a great defensive role. John (Jackson 5) made a few crucial tackles down the wings to break up the Rovers attack.

Saves. Mickey (Jackson 5). His 2nd half saves saved the Jackson 5 ultimately made them win the game, all he will get as a thank you is a packet of haribos.

Hat trick heroes. Abdul Said (Chickens) Jay (Jackson 5).

Team of the week

Gk Mickey (Jackson 5)

DF Adam (Fairies)

MDF Donghlay Zhan (Kuchen)

AMF Jay (Jackson 5)

FW Abdul Said (Rovers)

Player of the week-.  Tricky one, but I think Jay takes it for his hat trick against Rovers.
