Welcome to week 1,
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT
As one team failed to arrive today and their captain has no idea about the league on Mondays, saying his team does not belong to league 1, what this means is we now have a smaller league of 6. The good news is that this is now the most competitive league with everyone of equal standard. The end result is you will all play each other twice, which means you get 3 extra games free of charge. The bad news is that some teams will have to play twice in one week (1 hour) All 6 teams will have to go through what I have called double trouble so there is no advantage to any team. The fixtures have been redrafted to accommodate the changes. If you do face double trouble I will allow you to bring in a few players JUST FOR THE DAY.
This week
Only 4 teams played this week so this report will be slightly shorter. We began 40 minute mania with a nut cracker of an encounter where Cokers Jokers just couldn’t get the latecomer monkey of their back. Despite coming from behind twice in the end the Jokers were comfortable to go to the top of the pile. The hotshots with several key signings shone today (Yes I am talking about the hotshots) they laid down the mark on the title race with captain tureck at the heart of the action in the first half. They also won by a 4 goal margin and go 2nd for their troubles.
The match reports.
Jokers with more subs were able to keep legs fresh while the latecomers started off slow so as not to tire out quickly. James ong burst on the scene early to unleash some shots with Cadman strong at the back. It was no surprise they went 2-0 up with the afore mentioned getting a goal apiece. Alec and Jack provided much needed support to Southgate and Latecomers for a change were looking dangerous, the shots were coming in but Sangatt had it fairly easy in the joker goal. A goal from Jack Caddy to pull the latecomers back was cancelled out by a Stennard sensation that was hit from half way and a cool and composed goal from Coker, with the score at 4-1 Jokers seemed comfortable. In the Aston miracle of the evening Latecomers with a hat trick from Alec Peace pulled it back to 4-4. Latecomers continued with Knight stepping out of goal to provide some stability, unfortunately the captain was undone by Tim who restored the Joker lead before the break 5-4. In the 2nd half the jokers once again started off far better and went 3 ahead with Cadman striking and a dodgy own goal which Stennard claimed. This all happened in 5 minutes and the Latecomers had to do it all again. Surely not? Well it was that man Peace who got two to bring it back to 7-6 as the Jokers weren’t seeing the funny side of things any more. The Latecomers pressed and had 5 mins to pull a rabbit out the hat, but it wasn’t meant to be as Cadman, Neil and Coker all ended the Latecomer dream of a victory. Jokers 10-6 Latecomers.
The hotshots actually lived up to their name this week and were sizzling from the opening whistle. McLaffen was tricky linking up beautifully with the rotating front pair of Jigar and Jonny. New signing Chris Park must be related to Ji Sun as he was phenomenal. Sun also was firm supplied the balls to Austin who actually put his shots in the net, I know shocking. To cap off an all round performance Mark made 5 exceptional saves in the 1st half to keep the hotshots in it. However in the 2nd half a long ball by Aaron Pour should have been a bread and butter save for Mark however he somehow managed to catch it, let it drop, then let it roll between his legs and then into the net. True comedy moment that should be on you’ve been framed. For Lesbians it was a frustrating performance as they didn’t perform badly just had Mark save in the first half and barely muster up any attacks in the 2nd half. Bhav and Pritpal did have their best chances, but nothing came from it. Ricky did score a screamer at the end of the game but in the end it doesn’t even matter. Hotshots 6-2 Lesbians.
Player Cam
1-2. Michael Stennard’s link up with Tim was orgasmic, Tim ended up scoring in a sensational goal.
Rocket Launchers. Michael Stennard (Jokers). A left foot nut cracker had the ball whizz into the net. Ricky (Lesbians) a right foot driller found its way into the corner. Coker (Cokers Jokers) managed to run onto the ball take a touch and bang it into the net.
Silky. McLaffen and Chris (Hotshots). Almost teasing the opposition on several occasions both showed some great skill.
Saves. Mark (hotshots) was unbelievable but how on earth he let that long range goal in I will never know, that stopped me from giving him man of the match. I think he must have been thinking about renewing his playboy subscription cause it went all tits up.
A late arrival. Alec and Jack are exactly what the latecomer doctor ordered and will this deadly duo be able to deliver a win for the latecomers, they do have an uphill task ahead of them but league one better watch out
Tackle Nathan, Ricky (Lesbians) and Jonny, Jigar (Hotshots). All men were great in defence and constantly getting stuck in, great to watch and there was no fouling which made it even better.
Team of the week
Gk Mark (hotshots)
DF Cadman (Jokers)
MDF Alec Peace (Latecomers)
AMF Coker (Cokers Jokers)
FW John McL (hotshots)
Player of the week-. Alec Peace (Latecomers). 5 goals and a nightmare to deal with. What a debut
